Faculty of History

Faculty of History offers the Bachelor and Master Programmes in 7 fields of day studies applying a two-tier system of education in the Bologna system and an European system of assessing the achievements of students (ECTS).

At present Faculty of History  includes the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology, the Institute of History, the Institute of Art History. Each institute cooperates with other universities from Europe and the USA. Students and staff may participate in international exchange programs

 The Faculty has 77 Faculty members (research and teaching staff) including 47 professors with an academic title and 30 assistant professors. Faculty of History belongs to the first (i.e. the highest) ranking group according to the classification made by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Faculty has the right to confer scientific degrees of doctor and doctor habilitatus. The members of the academic staff of the Faculty conduct scientific and scholarly research on a world-class level. Because of location some of researchers concentrate on the problems of the Baltic Sea region and the history of Gdańsk and Pomerania.
